Storming Heaven: The Lives and Turmoils of Minnie Kennedy and Aimee Semple McPherson
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (June, 1970)
Author: Robert V.P. Steele
Average review score:

What A Woman
This is the second book I've read on Aimee Semple McPherson and it's really excellent. It doesn't whitewash who she and her mother were yet it respects the achievements these two amazing women accomplished. For anyone looking for a book that will not criticize Aimee and Minnie, this is not it. For anyone looking for a complete picture of who these women were I heartily recommend this well-written and researched book.

Authors: David J. Steele, Jeffrey L. Susman, and Fredrick A. McCurdy

Survival guide for med students in the primary care setting
I was lucky to buy this book while I was doing Family Medicine rotation during my internship. This book is intended for med students, and also for physician assistant students and nurse practitioner students.

The format of each chapter is as follows:
- The title of each chapter comprises a symptom rather than a disease.
- A synopsis about the symptom.
- The possible differential diagnoses which you should think about with a short description of each one.
- Learning how to take a focused history keeping in mind the purpose of each question.
- Learning how to do a focused physical exam.
- Suggesting what kind of tests you might do.
- Put it all together.
- Management.

There are 77 chapters distributed in 4 sections:
I.Orientation to the office.
II.Getting started in ambulatory patient care.
III.Common signs, symptoms, and illnesses.
IV.Common procedures in primary care.

There are many icons used in this book on the sidebar to indicate a brief definition of a technical term or brief description of a physical exam maneuver, red flags, hints, reminders, treatment options, and consultation and referral.

This book has many useful diagrams, black-and-white pictures, and tables.

It comes in a 392 pages; published by Hanley & Belfus; 1st edition (2002).

Surgical Decision Making
Published in Hardcover by W B Saunders (March, 1998)
Authors: Lawrence Norton, Glenn Steele, Ben E. Eiseman, and Glenne Steele
Average review score:

surgical decision making
Clear, concise, and to the point. This is an excellent reference for medical students, residents, and surgeons preparing for the boards. It would also be recommended for primary care physicians who may not deal with these types of problems on a daily basis. The chapters are in the form of large, easy to understand algorithms. After seeing how most of these problems are solved, the reader will be able to develop his or her own approach to other types of cinical puzzles. This makes for very fast reading.

Trellis and the Seed: A Book of Encouragement for All Ages
Published in Hardcover by Viking Books (May, 2003)
Authors: Jan Karon and Robert Gantt Steele
Average review score:

A Tickle or A Kiss?
A book of encouragement for all ages, enchantingly illustrated. God's perfect timing, mixed with grace and peace and the warmth of the earth and the water of the skies, can make us all be better than we ever imagined. A small volume, which I read in its entirety on my lunch hour, still delivers a powerful message.

Warpaths: Invasions of North America
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (January, 1999)
Author: Ian K. Steele
Average review score:

A pathway upon the middle ground
Ian K. Steele's Warpaths is one of those all-too-rare books that manages to consistently forge a pathway across the middle ground. The author offers readers the "big picture" of European versus American Indian conflict at the continental level, yet at the same time focuses upon key events in convincing detail. He evenhandedly describes the motivations, standards, and aspirations of the Spanish, French, English, and Dutch who participated in the rivalry for North America, while doing justice to the Indian position as well. Steele manges to state his conclusions in a way that is clear to modern readers, but without distorting the perspective of members of seventh and eighteen century European and Indian societies. Though a book which at times requires some dedication to follow, Pathways is a book which anyone in pursuit of historical truth about North America will find rewarding.

Whatever Happened to Jennifer Steele?: A Cat Wilde Mystery
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (March, 1996)
Author: Jean Ruryk
Average review score:

Very enjoyable "cozy" series
This is the second in this series featuring Catherine (Cat) Wilde. Cat is a 60 year old antique fancier and furniture restorer. She has a wonderful assortment of odd friends and a lifetime of experiences and heartaches which she brings to her escapades. Recommend this series be read in order the first being "Chicken Little Was Right". I can't wait for number 3.

When in France, Do as the French Do
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books (28 June, 2002)
Author: Ross Steele
Average review score:

Good introduction
Useful for people planning to live in, do business in, or merely visit France. Or even an armchair traveller interested in customs and mores elsewhere.

Steele gets it right. Many of his comments are also revealed in some of the best books about living in France such as Sarah Turnbull's 'Almost French' and Adam Gropnik's 'From PAris to the Moon'.

Steele has sections on a whole range of subjects: arts, business, daily life, food and drink, identity, language, philosophy, politics, and more.

Discover the answer to questions such as: when should you mention a person's family name in greeting? how should you attract a waiter's attention? where was Napoleon Bonaparte first buried? what French fast food chains are there? why don't French people smile as much as Americans? when in a meeting do you hand over a business card?
